About SS2 Marketing Scheme of Work

Marketing in SS2 involves learning about how businesses promote and sell their products and services. The curriculum focuses on finding out what customers want, creating value, and staying competitive in the market.

With the Lagos State Unified Scheme of Work, students learn about marketing principles and practices. They study topics including market research, consumer behavior, product development, branding, advertising, and sales strategies. Achievement Standards

SSS2 First Term

At the end of SSS2, students can;

  • Define the term distribution in marketing;
  • List the types of distribution;
  • Discuss the various types of distribution;
  • Elicit channels of distribution;
  • Show four examples of channels of distribution with the aid of a diagram;
  • State the functions of distribution in marketing;
  • Enumerate and explain the factors that determine the choice of distribution in marketing;
  • Describe the transportation system;
  • Give five importance of transportation in marketing;
  • Outline the various modes of transportation in Nigeria;
  • Evaluate the advantages of road transportation and rail transportation in marketing in a tabular form;
  • Discuss the benefits of transporting products by pipeline;
  • Discuss the use of air and water transport in marketing;
  • Explain five factors affecting the choice of transportation in marketing.

SSS2 Second Term

At the end of SSS2 second term, students can;

  • Describe bill of lading, delivery note, and weight note;
  • Define warehousing;
  • State the functions of warehousing;
  • List and explain types of warehousing;
  • Differentiate between bonded warehouses and government warehouses;
  • Enumerate six advantages of warehousing;
  • Discuss the activities of warehouses;
  • Highlight the difference between primary and secondary products;
  • Discuss the channel for marketing primary and secondary products;
  • Explain the term Market unions;
  • Give two examples of market unions in your locality;
  • Identify the responsibilities of market unions in the sale of goods.

SSS2 Third Term

At the end of SSS2 third term, students can;

  • Discuss facilitators;
  • Enumerate the roles of facilitator in marketing;
  • Choose a food product and outline its processes;
  • State examples of food processing companies;
  • Explain the challenges of food processing industries in Nigeria;
  • Define banking system;
  • State ten examples of commercial banks;
  • Discuss functions of commercial banks;
  • Define cooperative societies;
  • Mention four types of cooperative societies;
  • Name and state the functions of any marketing boards;
  • Describe the activities of microfinance companies;
  •  Explain mineral products;
  • State five examples of mineral products;
  • Describe the sources of mineral products;
  • Differentiate between oil and non-oil products;
  • Discuss the methods applicable in marketing mineral products.

Assessment Guide

Assessment methods for Marketing in SS2 include written exams, assignments, projects, presentations, practical activities, participation, and quizzes. Methods such as multiple-choice questions, research papers, marketing plans, role-playing, and class discussions ensure a comprehensive evaluation of students’ theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and critical thinking in marketing.

Grading follows a scale from A to F, with A representing excellent performance, typically scoring around 70% or 80%, and F indicating failure, usually below 50% or 45%.
