This syllabus will serve as a guide to candidates who want to sit for the BECE Efik examination to know what they should expect and what they should read on to ace their exam.
The BECE Efik exam is designed to test the candidates in various aspects of the Efik Language. Some of those aspect include; it will test them on how to correctly use vocabulary in their correct context, the candidates will also be expected to compose short stories, folklores, news etc, they will also be expected to know how to translate Efik to English , and the candidates should be prepared as they will be tested if they have the adequate knowledge to learn Efik in their Senior classes.
The BECE Efik exam consists of two papers; Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers consist of 60 questions each with 1 hour allocated for each of the papers.
PAPER 1: Paper 1 question will cover language, literature and culture, and the instruction will be in Efik. This paper consists of 60 multiple choice questions in which 10 questions (5 each)will come from two comprehension passages of 150 words, 5 from Composition, 25 questions from Grammar, 10 from Sound system(Phonology), and 5 questions from Orthography making it 60 questions in total.
PAPER 2 Paper 2 also comprises 60 multiple choice questions. The questions will be set as follows; 15 questions will be set from oral literature, 25 questions from written literature, and 20 questions will be set from Culture and tradition making it 60 questions in total.
