This exam is designed for candidates who can read, write, and speak Ibibio fluently as their first language, mother tongue, or the language of their local surroundings, this syllabus is derived from the 9-Year Basic Education Curriculum.
The BECE Ibibio exam aims to test candidates’ Ibibio proficiency, including self-expression, grammar, oral tradition, writing, reading, translating, and understanding customs, values, and norms. It will also evaluate the candidate’s ability to write, read, and translate works from English to Ibibio, and equip them with tools for further studies at the Senior Secondary School level.
This exam comprises two papers, Paper 1 and 2. Both are multiple-choice questions and they are to last for 1 hour each.
PAPER 1
Paper 1 questions consist of 2 comprehension passages(5 questions each), grammar(20 questions), composition(5 questions), sound system(10 questions), orthography(5 questions), and translation(10 questions),
PAPER 2
Paper 2 consists of 60 multiple-choice questions covering these aspects; Oral literature(15 questions), written literature(20 questions), and culture and tradition(20 questions) making it a total of 60 questions.
