About SSS3 Machine Woodwork Scheme of Work

Machine woodwork in SSS3 teaches students woodworking using various machines and tools. The Lagos State Unified Scheme of Work provides a structured education in this subject.

The curriculum covers many topics, such as safely using and maintaining woodworking machines, techniques for cutting, shaping, and finishing wood, and designing and building wooden structures. Students learn types of wood and their properties, helping them choose the right materials for projects. The focus is on precision and attention to detail to produce high-quality wood products.

Students spend time in workshops, applying what they learn to real projects. This hands-on experience helps them develop the technical skills and confidence they need to use machinery safely and effectively. They learn to use tools like saws, planers, routers, and sanders and master techniques such as joinery, laminating, and veneering.

Studying machine woodwork in SSS3 through this scheme provides a strong education combining theory, practical skills, and modern technology. This prepares students for successful careers in woodworking and related fields, giving them the skills needed to succeed in a dynamic industry.

Assessment Guide

Assessment methods for machine woodwork in SSS3 include practical exams, written tests, project work, class participation, assignments, portfolios, and teacher observation. These methods evaluate students’ theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and ability to safely and effectively use woodworking tools and machines.

Grading follows a scale from A to F, with A representing excellent performance, typically scoring around 70% or 80%, and F indicating failure, usually below 50% or 45%.
