Islamic Religious Studies (IRS) for JSS2 students offers a comprehensive exploration of Islam’s principles, practices, and teachings.
At this level, students deepen their understanding of various aspects of the Islamic faith, including beliefs, rituals, history, and ethics. They delve into the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, the Quran, Hadith, and the civilization shaped by Islam.
The objective of IRS in JSS2 is to establish a solid groundwork of Islamic knowledge and values among students, nurturing their spiritual and moral growth. It encourages them to reflect on morals and grasp Islamic principles within contemporary Nigerian society.
This subject not only deepens their understanding of Islam but also fosters attitudes of tolerance, respect, and harmony among different faiths.
In junior secondary schools, how students are assessed in Islamic Religious Studies can differ from school to school. However, typically, they are evaluated through tests or quizzes (Continuous Assessment Tests) and end-of-term exams.
Grading usually follows a scale from A to F, with A representing excellent performance, typically scoring around 70% or 80%, and F indicating failure, usually below 40%
