About Islamic Religious Studies Scheme of Work for Primary 4

Islamic Religious Studies is a subject that covers various aspects of Islamic Religion. From Quran recitation and memorization to understanding the surahs, the teachings of the prophet, islamic ethics and manners.

Islamic studies for primary 4 centers on the memorization of some surahs, knowing the Prophet and his companions, identifying things that spoil wudu and solah and the types of fasting.

Some of the topics covered in this class are; Belief in the Angels, Surstul Fil, Suratul Qadr, belief in His revealed books, Suratul Tin, Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Suratul Fatihah, fara’id wa sunnat-ul wudhu, Surat-ul Duha, trustworthiness, islamic rules and conduct, brotherhood, surat al ikhlas, fara’id wa sunatul salah, As-sawn , Khulafah-ar-Rashidun etc.

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to: i. define the word Angels and discuss their characteristics ii. list some Angels with their functions; iii. give illustration of their perfomed duties with reference to the Quran and Hadith;
3	Süratul,fil: (Qurän 105) -Recitation, Translation, -Reasons for its Revelation and the -Uses of the chapter.	By the end of the lesson, fie pupils should be able to: i. recite Süratul-Fil in Arabic transliteration; ii. explain the English tanslation of the chapter; iii. imagine the reasons and uses for its revelaåon of the chapter.
4	Shirk: Definition, examples of shirk, -Allah’s verdict on shirk	By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: i. describe the term Shirk: ii. illustrate the verdict of Allah towards the practice of Shirk; iii. Analyse why Allah (SWT) cannot be compared with any creatures.
5	Suratul-Qadr Q95 v 1-8) (Chapter of Fil) -Recitation, Translation, -Importance and Uses of the Chapter	By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: i. recite Süratul -Qadr in Arabic/Transliteration; ii. explain the English translation of the chapter; iii. state the importance and uses of the chapter.
6	Belief in the Revealed Books -Definition -Their List -Reason for believing in them by Muslim	By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: i. define the Revealed Books ii. identify the Revealed Books with their corresponding Prophets (AS) iii. justify why muslim must belief in all the Revealed Books of Allah (SWT)

8	Suratul-Tin Q95 v 1-8) (Chapter of Tin) -Recitation, Translation, -Importance and Uses of the Chapter	By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: i. recite Süratul -Tin in Arabic/Transliteration; ii. explain the English translation of the chapter; iii. state the importance and uses of the chapter.
9	Prophet Muhammad (SAW): His Qualities before Prophethood; his life from Prophethood to the Establishment of Islamic Ummah in Medinah	By he end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: i. identify fre qualities of Prophet Muhammad (SAW); ii. illustrate how the Prophet (SAW) received the first revelation at Cave of Hira and his encounter with the non-Believers; iii. Imagine his establishment of Ummah in Madinah after Hjjrah.
10	Suratul-lnshråh (Q94 v 1-8) Recitation, Translation, Reasons for its revelation and Uses of the Chapter.	By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to: i. Recite the entire Süratul Inshräh in Arabic / Transliteration; ii. explain the English translation of the chapter;
11	Moral Lessons from the Life and Teaching of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) (a) Explanation of his Qualities	By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: i. recall and explain the qualities of the Prophet (SAW) ii. justify the moral qualities of the Prophet (SAW) iii. Discussions on the relevance of his Qualities to Muslims.

3	Süratul-Humazah -Recitation, Translation, -Importance and the Uses	By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to: i. recall Süratul-Humazah in Arabic transliteration; ii. explain the English translation of the Sürah; iii. illustrate the importance and the uses of the Sürah in Muslims lives.
4	Fara’id wa Sunnatul Wudu (Obligatory and Tradition aspect of ablution) (b) Five ways of correcting mistake in ablution	By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to: i. identify Fara’id of Wudu ii. Illustrate sunnan of wuddu iii. evaluate 5 ways of correcting mistakes in Wudu
5	Suratul-Tawbah (Q9 v 128-129) Recitation, Translation, Reasons for its revelation and Uses of the Chapter.	By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to: i. recall Süratul-Tawbah in Arabic transliteration; ii. explain the English translation of the Sürah; iii. illustrate the importance and the uses of the Sürah in Muslims lives.
6	Mustahabah of Wudu Meritorious Part of ablution (b) The steps of correcting omission of ablution	By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to: i. identify the mustahabah of Wudu ii. asess the steps of correcting omission in Wudu

8	Süratud-Duhä (Q 93 v1-6) Recitation, Translation & Memorization	By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: i. Recite Süratul-Duhä verse 1 to 6 of in Arabic/Transliteration; ii. explain the English translation of the chapter, iii. state the importance of the verses.
9	Süratul- Duhä (Q 93 v 7-11) -Recitation, -Translation & Memorizafion	By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to: i. Recite the remaining verses of Süratud-Duhä (v. 7— 11) in Arabic/transliteration; ii. explain the English translation of the verses; iii. state the importance of the Surah.
10	Trustwothiness: Definition, Importance, (b) How Qualifies of (c) Trustworthiness could be Applied.	By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: i. Discuss trustworthiness; ii. illustate the importance of keeping promises; iii. infer how the quality of tustworåiness could be applied;
11	Islamic Rules on Conduct,Brotherhood, (b) Views of Islam on Intoxicants and Addiction: Q5 v 90-91 (c)Duties of a Muslim to Fellow Muslims (Q3 v 103, Q49v 10)	describe good conducts in Islam; i. classify the position of Islam on intoxicants and drug addiction; ii. discuss the duties of Muslims to other Muslims.
